On the afternoon of Monday, August 21, police were called to West 25th Street on a report of an assault, Captain Eric Amato said. Upon arrival, police found Robert Correa on top of a man who was lying on the ground and bleeding from the head, Amato said.
During their investigation, police found a semiautomatic handgun that was in a baby diaper bag stored on the stroller of Correa's child, who was nearby, Amato said.
Correa was placed under arrest while the victim declined medical attention, Amato said. Police also discovered Correa's handgun was stolen from Pennsylvania, Amato said.
Correa was charged with aggravated assault, receiving stolen property, endangering the welfare of a child and numerous weapons charges, Amato said.
